Some Little Thoughts

An  Evening  Song:  The  Sea; You;  And,  Me

Life offers little more that is inviting
Or exciting than the sun, declining
On an evening’s calm sea. With gentle breezes,
Kissing the hull, as though inviting love’s
Profound intent to re-invent the majesty
Of life and living. White caps and foam, spewing
From bow to stern, parting to admit the
Welcome intruder. Come to your lovers’ arms!
Ecstasy! Replace lust; then, blessed rest.
Ah! What tranquil state a man may find aboard
A crystal ship, traversing a foreign land,
With balmy breezes, caressing cheeks of brown,
And with lovers, arm in arm, before
The day is played and night has come to stay.

And, in the morning, when the sun again comes
To shine, sit and watch creation’s vast surprise,
As life again begins anew with sea breezes, wafting,
And the songs of the day replace night’s lullaby.
Oh peaceful state! Lovers look agog, smile and
Say: I love you, ever, to the beauteous morn.
Drink long of the cup of this scene lest you
Lose the chance to taste the sweetness of life,
Of living and forgiving, of bliss and
The morning’s first kiss. Feel the warmth of her,
Sitting close at hand, a body, perf’ct-form’d with
Skin as smooth as silk, as sensual as
The sea’s command to view the majesty
Of the new day to start. Stay, do not part!
